Instead, it\u2019s just what the Kremlin calls \u201cthe old world\u201d of Europe, without its US partner, being singled out for criticism.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj00043b6mnvzfwsr2@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            On his top-rated news show, Dmitry Kisylov, a prominent state mouthpiece who once boasted how Russia could reduce the United States to a smouldering pile of radioactive ash, is now talking about a \u201cgreat troika,\u201d dominating the globe: China, Russia and the US.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj00053b6mn8x9trp8@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cNow the European war party wants to further escalate the Ukrainian conflict,\u201d Kisylov tells his millions of Russian viewers.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj00063b6mpv9ncqbc@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            But \u201cif we simplify it, everything now is decided by the great troika &#8211; Russia, China and US &#8211; that will form the new structure of the world. The European Union as a single political force no longer exists,\u201d he adds.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj00073b6m92sg2o29@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            It is a bleak vision already being played out on the battlefields of Ukraine, where the Trump-administration, determined to end the bloodshed, is piling pressure on an embattled Kyiv.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj00083b6mrnrljd9e@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            To the alarm of the Western allies, US President Donald Trump has made breathtaking concessions to the Kremlin, most recently suspending US military aid to Ukraine \u2013 to the glee of the Kremlin. Trump has also rejected the idea of future NATO membership for the country, which has been fighting a full-scale Russian invasion since February 2022, and have US security guarantees.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj00093b6mgu2x3dkc@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            By unilaterally starting negotiations with Russia over the heads of Ukraine and Europe, Trump has begun a controversial process of bringing Moscow in from the diplomatic cold, sowing disunity among Washington\u2019s traditional allies. Both are longtime Kremlin objectives.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000a3b6meij7ab6y@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Trump\u2019s public humiliation of Ukrainian President Zelensky during a recent visit to the White House underlined for many Russians just how seismic the US shift has been.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000c3b6mualz7gui@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            At times, Kremlin-controlled media struggled to reconcile the shocking events.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000d3b6mskjrogyi@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cOn the one hand, Trump speaks about peace, and politicians close to him say they\u2019re interested in Ukraine\u2019s success,\u201d observed Igor Naymushin, a reporter for Russian state media.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000e3b6m8zs1ph4x@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cBut on the other, from Washington it looks like he\u2019s giving Russia all the cards and tools to successfully continue the special military operation and directly achieve success on the battlefield,\u201d Naymushin added, using a common euphemism in Russia for its actions in Ukraine.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000f3b6m0mq69552@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            In Russia, the heavily-controlled media reflects the mood of the Kremlin, as do the words of Russian officials now driving home US-European divisions while flip-flopping on Washington\u2019s historical record.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000g3b6mqqs7dzqy@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cI do not want to be anti-European,\u201d claimed Sergey Lavrov, the veteran Russian foreign minister. \u201cHowever\u2026. all the tragedies of the world originated in Europe or happened thanks to European policy. Colonization, wars, crusaders, the Crimean War, Napoleon, World War One, Adolf Hitler. If we look at history in retrospect, the Americans did not play any instigating or even inflammatory role,\u201d he insisted in an interview posted on the official foreign ministry website.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000h3b6mx0ycokmi@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Beyond the flattery, however, it\u2019s hard to see what the US has extracted from Russia in return for Washington\u2019s geopolitical about-face.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000i3b6m79hylhqv@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Privately, one Russian official told me the US-Russian economic cooperation deals being discussed behind closed doors may have appealed. Such deals are Putin\u2019s \u201cKryptonite\u201d for a transactional Trump, as one Russian commentator put it.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000j3b6mdm2s1qty@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cTrump is like Superman, and our President (Putin) has found his weakness,\u201d said Nikita Danyuk, a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation to Russian state media outlet Channel 1.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000k3b6mhc1d7hbi@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cAs soon as Trump hears \u2018rare earth metals\u2019, it doesn\u2019t matter if those metals are there or not. He forgets about anything and is ready to accept any terms. It\u2019s truly a grandmasters game by our President,\u201d Danyuk said.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000l3b6mdv6ae1eo@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Other pro-Kremlin figures, like Olga Skabaeva, a state TV presenter, highlight the free hand the Trump administration appears to have granted Moscow.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000m3b6m50i9rcc4@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            After a senior Ukrainian official, Andrey Yermak, posted a social media calling for Russia to \u201cstop its daily shelling of Ukraine, and immediately, if it really wants to end the war,\u201d  Skabaeva responded: \u201cThis morning Yermak woke up and thought he was Trump\u2026\u201d    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000n3b6mp0arsv26@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cBut he forgot that Trump does not set any conditions for Russia and Putin. Only for Zelensky and Ukraine.\u201d    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000o3b6m6c67tcdy@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Little wonder the Kremlin\u2019s propagandists have been falling over themselves to praise the United States.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7xy3bmj000p3b6mg96d8b0n@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            They have changed their tune.
